Frank,
ReplyDeleteI can understand feeling like you are in a slump, and to also not totally being satisfied with your outcomes, but if there wasn't a feeling of not hitting a home run every time, then you have nothing left to strive for. I wished my finishes looked this good, but we're talking about your expectations. They should be high, and when you do really like an outcome, you should set your expectations a little higher than that achievement We're all at a different place in our growth and development. The only thing that would really disappoint me would be if I looked back in two years, after continuous dedicated painting, and didn't see a change towards the look I've been working for. Even that change can be slight, but I don't think it happens overnight.
This piece is great. Composition and color harmony are what jumps out at me first. It reminds me of Beaugereau's piece where Christ is being whipped. The luminance is really there.
Mick
Thanks Mick,
ReplyDeleteI had one of those days where I just felt like giving up. I should take Edgar Payne's advice and just do something else for a while.....discouraged :v(
Great painting Frank! Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. :-)

ReplyDeleteMulti-talented, you are blessed Frank-this painting is very impressive, compos, light and shadows, subject...like they are trapped into the ascension process... Dark days are good in our 3-dimensions world, this gives distance to jump on the next level. As we are all connected,
ReplyDeleteyou're not alone. I'm sending you good vibes from the North!
