You can Act like a Man!

I was already in a bummed mood after Sunday's vote and Monday came and went which meant that I did not make the top 15 in the International Portrait Competition. I usually start feeling sorry for myself  ... then I remember that great scene from the Godfather where Johnie Fontaine complains about not getting a part to Vito Corleone.....

 Thankyou Godfather ... I needed that  ... ;v)

  3. Hey Deb ...

thats Life in the Big City .... here is the letter I received from them today ...

    Dear Frank,

Thank you for participating in the 12th Annual International Portrait Competition hosted by the Portrait Society of America. Both quality and quantity of this year’s entries speak to the encouraging resurgence of interest in traditional portraiture and figurative art in America.

Over 1300 artworks were considered in this year’s competition. The selection process was exceptionally challenging. Though your work was not selected for this year’s competition, we greatly appreciate your choice to participate, and would encourage you to submit your artwork for next year’s competition.

    Sincerely,

    Christine Egnoski

  4. Hey Frank:
You want I should take care of the jury for you? I could make them an "offer they can't refuse" LOL!

  5. Frank, you gave it a go, you entered and for that you are a Champ!
Competitions are brutal.. everybody has a story to tell.
The real winners are the folks that keep on
getting up, brush themselves off and then get knocked down again.
Today everybody is a judge, you can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself.
It sure would have been nice though, get'em next year Frank! Get'em good!

  7. Frank,
I have to comment because your "Act Like A Man" made me chuckle out loud. Your wonderful sense of humor was just what I needed. Certainly, your painting should have been accepted but there is a lesson here for all of us. I question the real value now for being "accepted" into these national exhibits, Portraits of American, Oil Painters of America, etc. other than the glory we receive from other artists. Too many of our highly successful artists of today are not in these organizations. Do they know something that we all should know?
