Plein Air at Horton Iris Farm
I quickly drove to the Iris Farm about 3:30 and started a painting with Jana right behind me. I stopped at the 1 1/2 hr mark as the sun and mood started to really change. 11 x 14 .

Great job Frank! You really captured the light on the trees!
ReplyDeleteWise to stop when it all changes!!! Too many of us chase the light and end up with paintings that should be scraped!!
ReplyDeleteYour play with color in this is fascinating. I can't wait for this years garden!
ReplyDeleteHey Marian ... My buddy Tim Solliday taught me that idea awhile back and it was really GOOD advice. If you chase the light and keep moving your shadows you will be frustrated. He also taught me to anticipate where the shadows will be in an hour ... then two hours and work to that point and STOP.
ReplyDeleteThank Mary ... I love the contrast of a large tree and a fruit tree .... like TreeBeard and the Hobbit...
ReplyDeleteBill ... No limited palette here .... the full monty....
This really has the drama of light - big time.
ReplyDeletebeautiful.
