I've been giving my typing hand a break. My arm seizes up everytime I type for an extended period. Its a drag... what's up with that.

Anyway...So much is going to happen  in the coming weeks . Come Monday, I will be joined by my Art Bud Mick McGinty of " Twice  a Week" and we will head off to Bodega Bay to paint for 2 days. Also joining in the fun will be my ol ILM fellow Matte Painter and Emmy award recipient and master realist painter etc. Christopher Evans. This should be fun. Then Mick and I will drive to Ashland Ore on Wednesday where I will be co _teaching and yapping at the Box R Ranch Masterpiece Conference for 4 days. I will demo my portrait technique and teach a little about Plein Air Painting. Then I come back on Saturday and then Its Momma's Day. Yeah. Then I need to set up shop at my new Gallery location in Auburn on Lincoln Way and THEN get ready for Cruise Night that Friday where thousands will fill the street and I will be ALMOST ready to hawk paintings of cars. I love painting ol cars! Whew!

So... I've got to keep this short ... my arm is hurting already... I went down to Sacramento to participate in a video that will feature a few of the artists participating in the portrait show " About Face ". After I opened and shut my mouth I get the reflexive comment ... " Man ... You sure can talk" ... its a gift people..... I'll post the You Tube Video when its ready to go online at Sacramento365.com
In fact.... They've already posted my painting of Sam and you can go there and see some of the other paintings.

Come to think of it ,  after I gave my presentation and talk at the BoxR last time I was reinvited  ... so.. my friends ... If you can't type ... TALK! Engage in a way that inspires your hearers.

Yap  ... Yap ... Yap ....  Yap .... Yap .....

Sorry to hear about the arm thing, no fun dealing with that. Does it bother you when you paint?

  5. Ever since I've been teaching my talking has gone waaaay up...and with the arm, at least you haven't resorted to using your left foot! Good luck at BoxR!

  6. Frank,
Have you tried wearing one of the wrist splints to keep the wrist straight? Besides all the usual modalities, I have read that acupuncture and chiropractic might also help. Can't hurt I guess. I sympathize as I've had some kind of shoulder malfunction on my painting arm since last November, limited painting and, even worse, lots of bad hair days 'cuz I can't raise it up. What's a gal to do?

  7. Frank;
That sounds like a problem. Maybe you should see a physical therapist. It must be like a sports injury. Your health insurance might cover it.

  8. Sorry to hear you are still in pain Frank. Are you having an operation to sort this? You sound so busy and so happy. Look forward to seeing your beach trip work. Maybe you should hire a typist to do your blog posts? ;-)

  9. I agree with Stape above. Talk to a pro about that, if you haven't already. I'm a big believer in PT, since my knee surgery. It's amazing what just the right amount of correct exercise per day can do. Lots of delicate tendons and ligaments in our hands.

  10. Frank,
Those are my old stomping grounds on the Sonoma coast, great places to paint.

Sorry to hear about your arm.
Besides talking to a doc you might look into voice recognition software, its pretty good these days. If your interested here is a link to one of the best products on the market.

  11. I agree with Armand, if you reaeeeally want to type, speach recognition software is much better now than it used to be.

    Happy travels.

  12. don't ignore that arm problem--talking won't cure it. I live in Oregon--so I wish I would have known about this deal where I would get to see your demonstration--would've been a drive for me, but I would have been happy to do it! :)They are lucky people!

  15. Greetings All and ThankYou for your concern and advice.

I have whats called Thorasic Outlet Syndrome. It a pain that start at a nerve and muscle on my right shoulder Blade then moves up to my shoulder and down to my arm and wrist. Its all a result of much pitching and throwing a football and painting and aggravated by typing.

I have a friend who is a specialist and I have certain routines he has offered to bring down the swelling. And I visit a Chiropractor and he really helps me.

I REALLY aggravated it this time by uploading images on my new website and then bowling with my son THAT evening. I only could bowl one game as my arm was killing me. I usd to have a strong throwing arm and I could toss a football very far for my size ( like doug flootie ) now,,, I can barely throw it 5 yards.

Blessings to you all ... and I hope you feel better DEB!!!!!!

  16. Heh Frank, I miss you up in Ashland. Love your painting from Iris farm. Nice colors, vibrant!! Also, am reading Stapleton Kearns blog, very helpful on design, competition versus contributing. I haven't painted in five days. Giving it a rest, heading out to San Simeon Castle. I have three new blogs entries, check it out and give me your thoughts. (Silvioscorner.blogspot.com)
