On to the Murph ....

Its been a rough week. Mom is doing better and now she is part bionic and is sure to set off metal alarms each time she goes to the airport.

Its really hard to refocus but the artist has to cary on..... I plan to experiment with this portrait. I have no clue where it is going. Its like walking on a high wire. Help!

About 3 weeks ago we had ArtWalk in Auburn and the Gallery was filled from 6 to 9pm with art lovers. I did not want to waste the time and I decided to paint for the crowd. I go in and out experimenting with different techniques and I was demonstrating how I use an underpainting. I can't wait to start on the face. This painting is called the traveler.

A man came in and asked me about a portrait he had seen last year during ArtWalk. He inquired if I still had it. I said I did and he then asked if he could buy it. Most people don't usually buy a portrait of a person they don't know but he said he liked the quiet mood and gesture. He told me that he had been thinking about this portrait during the past year. He had to come back and buy it. We had a sale. Here is the portrait. The boy's parent walked in last year and saw it and asked how much I wanted for it. I told her and she then walked out. Amazing how a stranger will be looking at her boy.

  9. I have spent my entire year focusing on the care and passing of my mom. For the first time in years, art has taken a back seat...way back. I don't think anyone can prepare us for taking care of our parents. Looking forward to seeing you at the conference...Karen

  13. Love your painting of Murph just as it is Frank, and the background colors really sing to me. Very interesting story about the painting of the boy. One never knows, right? But the right home for a painting is the person it means the most to.
